What to do in the Turda Salt Mine?
The mine has been producing salt since the antiquity. But all things come to an end, including mining for salt. So Salina Turda has been a halotherapy center since 1992 and in 2008 the mine has been modernized for tourism. The result is one of the best things to do and see in Romania. You can visit the Iosif, Terezia and Rudolf mines and play some table tennis or go for a ride in the underground Ferris wheel. Strange? How to reach the Turda Salt Mine?
You can find the Turda Salt Mine near the city of Turda, after Cluj-Napoca the biggest city of the Cluj region. The mine is or less in the middle of Transylvania, so it’s an easy day trip from several surrounding cities or you can stay in one of the hotels near the mines.
